Do you know where your data is?
TymeTrax does!
TymeTrax products are NOT
implemented in
the cloud (see the cloud description at the right). All
TymeTrax applications are easy-to-install Windows
applications that are downloaded by clicking an email
link, then installed on each user's computer.
These setup packages are small, usually less than 5MB,
and install in less than a minute. Any user can
easily install the application and any upgrades with
little or no assistance.
In the case of a
multiple-user version, the data is stored on a SQL server or shared drive
in your place of business. If you're the
only user of a TymeTrax product, normally the data is
stored in a Microsoft Access-compatible database also on
your computer.
Consequently, you always know where your data is and
have complete control over it and who has access to it.
So, does TymeTrax NEED an internet
connection at all?
TymeTrax applications do NOT depend on an
Internet connection for your daily use. However,
IF you do have Internet access you can utilize the
integrated Outlook features in the system to send
documents via email, download updates and support remote
users using the TymeTrax Replication utilities. |

What does 'the
cloud' mean, anyway?
Cloud technology
provides users a way to access data and apps from anywhere, via the Internet (or "the
cloud"). Applications and data are hosted by
providers who may be in another state or country,
instead of on your own computers in your office or
building.
The benefits
are that you can access your software applications from
any computer with just a simple browser (like Internet
Explorer), and you don't have to invest in servers or
backup systems, as the provider takes care of all of
that.
All you need is a reliable internet
connection and the willingness to pay a monthly or
annual fee for the services, plus faith in the provider
to actually provide the services you've contracted for.
The most critical
concern in the cloud, however, is Security. How do
you protect your data when you don't even know where it
is?
Also, if your Internet service is interrupted
for any reason, or if you find yourself in a location
where you can't connect to the Internet, you have NO
access to your business applications or data. |
